It seems like every business is using online video to promote their brand on the web these days.  Dairy Queen is asking loyal customers to submit online videos wishing a happy 25th birthday to their Blizzard ice cream treat.

According to the company’s blog,

“We are inviting our fans 18 years or older with a camera, camcorder or mobile device to record and submit a video clip (no longer than one minute) with your most original, creative or funny version of you, your family, your friends or your pet singing happy birthday to the Blizzard Treat. No purchase is necessary.”

Dairy Queen Online Video Contest

Contestants are asked to upload their video directly to their YouTube account with the title Happy Birthday Dairy Queen Blizzard.  In August,  Dairy Queen will select 100 winners and those winners will receive $25 gift cards.  One lucky winner will also be featured on Dairyqueen.com.  Videos will be judged on creativity, originality, adherence to a 1 minute time limit and very importantly the number views the video is able to garner.  Of course, more video views mean more free advertising for the ice cream company.  Expect to see cute kid videos from your friends and family in Facebook and email blasts in the near future.

Certainly a great way to get people talking about Dairy Queen.   Looks like the promotion is costing the company a total of $2,500.   You can be sure they will sell enough ice cream to make the promotion well worth it.
