Twitter announced on Tuesday a “Better Twitter” that will soon allow users to embed photos and videos into their 140 character tweets. This is big news for passive viewers of Twitter.com, avid tweeters and anyone waiting to see if Twitter can become profitable. Allowing users to see playable video directly on Twitter.com will keep those users on the site longer and give Twitter more opportunity to sell advertising and push out more so-called “Promoted Tweets.” The social media company has also cleaned up the interface to allow users to scroll through multiple tweets and related content without needing to click to another page.
Now, it’s easy to see embedded photos and videos directly on Twitter, thanks to partnerships with DailyBooth, deviantART, Etsy, Flickr, Justin.TV, Kickstarter, Kiva, Photozou, Plixi, Twitgoo, TwitPic, TwitVid, USTREAM, Vimeo, yfrog, and YouTube.

Of course, the announcement is also great news for business and video production companies looking to promote videos and make announcements on the micro-blogging site. Imagine your company needs to promote the release of your new product or service. How great would it be to tweet out a video announcement to thousands of interested parties? Users will be much more likely to actually watch the video if they can see it right on Twitter.com.
The enhancements are not available yet on Twtter.com but will be rolled out to users in the near future.
