Interesting article over at GigaOm about Yahoo!’s failed acquisition attempt of DailyMotion. Towards the end of the article, Janko Roettgers lists Yahoo!-owned Flickr is listed as one of the secondary strategic targets, given the company’s historical futility at integrating purchased companies. That’s right, Flickr, the place you used to keep your pictures! Turns out, Flickr has been offering video hosting/sharing/streaming for over five years, Yahoo!’s just done a miserable job of marketing it. But how great – and unique – would it be to have the ability to share a video along with other photos/documents, all in one package? Embed your product video, some glamour shots, and a white paper all in one go? That’s unique enough that we’d probably recommend it for at least some clients in some instances.
Could Flickr be Yahoo!’s Streaming Video Answer?
